Legendary Jazz Musician, Bob Dorough, dies at 94.

April 24, 2018

Bob Dorough, whose career began as a composer, arranger and singer in the booming New York jazz scene of the '50s and '60s before he became the musical keystone of Schoolhouse Rock!, died Monday afternoon in Mt. Bethel, Pennsylvania, his wife, Sally Shanley Dorough, confirmed. He was 94.

In 1960 Tommy Wolf brought Bob to St. Louis to play the lead in 'A Walk on the Wild Side' by Nelson Algren with lyrics by Fran Landesman. They began writing together and by 1966 Bob had recorded many of their songs in a TRO Workshop album in the words of FRAN LANDESMAN in the style of BOB DOROUGH.

Bob's musical catalog includes WITHOUT RHYME OR REASON, SMALL DAY TOMORROW, THE WINDS OF HEAVEN.

We are devastated of the passing of our long time friend. However, we are grateful that he enjoyed 94 good years, having all his faculties and energy right up to the end.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time.
