Qunicy: A Life Beyond Measure

September 19, 2018

It’s 1964 and Quincy Jones sits in his office in New York when his phone rings. It’s Frank Sinatra. Frank tells Quincy that he liked what he and Count Basie had done on previous projects and wants him to arrange and conduct his next album, It Might As Well Be Swing.

That call from Frank was a major turning point in Quincy’s career and life.

The album led off with a cover of Bart Howard’s FLY ME TO THE MOON; a song that would take Frank and Quincy to a whole new planet.

FLY ME TO THE MOON became the first music played on the Moon during the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, when astronaut Buzz Aldrin stepped onto the lunar surface and played Frank’s rendition on a portable cassette player.

Quincy will be streamed on Netflix on September 21, 2018.
