New Signing Absolight

April 03, 2026

TRO Essex Music Group, alongside its label arm Shamus Records, is proud to announce the signing of Absolight to an exclusive publishing and recording agreement.

In their first collaboration together, Absolight covers one of the iconic TRO Essex songs, Lead Belly’s “Black Betty.” A perennial rock song throughout the decades covered by Ram Jam, Spiderbait, Nick Cave, Tom Jones, and Dinosaur Jr., this latest rendition is out everywhere today. Absolight continues to build on the song’s legacy with a contemporary, no-frills rock version.

Heavily influenced by the legacy of British rock, Absolight blends energetic alternative rock with complex sonic textures and unforgettable melodies. Their sound, which evolved through close collaboration with David Beaudry, a friend and associate member who plays a behind-the-scenes role as a co-composer and arranger, often transcends rock, blending elements of punk, pop, and even classical music. This eclectic style has led to frequent comparisons to renowned British rock bands like Muse.

This signing continues TRO Essex Music Group’s long-standing tradition of championing culturally significant and influential artists. The company’s catalog represents some of the most iconic voices in music history, including Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Lead Belly, Bill Evans, Pete Townshend, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Bernice Johnson Reagon, Toshi Reagon and many more.

Absolight joins a dynamic and growing roster of contemporary artists shaping the future of the TRO and Shamus legacy, including Crys Matthews, Alex Wong, Siibii, St. Catherine’s Child, Flamy Grant, Jaden Evans, Casii Stephan, Sam Robbins, Sam Louis, amongst others.

With this partnership, TRO Essex Music Group and Shamus Records reaffirm their commitment to amplifying powerful voices and fostering artistry that reflects the cultural moment, continuing a legacy built on music that moves, challenges, and inspires.
