This full-length feature film pays homage to the remarkable career, of folk/blues musician Leadbelly, featuring intimate interviews with Leadbelly’s niece, Tiny Robinson, and clips from an impressive lineup including Pete Seeger, Harry Belafonte, Arlo Guthrie, Odetta, Joan Baez, Tom Jones, Paul McCartney and Alan Lomax. The film premiered for the first time ever in September at the International Black Film Festival in Nashville, TN, and left with the Audience Choice Award, it's one you won't want to miss!
Leadbelly’s tale is one of perseverance and resilience, his work inspired generations of artists including The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Van Morrison, not to mention Pete Seeger, Lonnie Donegan, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Nirvana, The White Stripes, Eric Clapton, and rock and roll in general.
Through a compelling mixture of rare video footage and live performances, to an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, take a journey through Leadbelly’s life in the documentary “Leadbelly: The Man Who Invented Rock and Roll,” and learn about his significant contributions to rock and roll, music history, and the lasting relevance and impact of his story today.
