TRO Folk Alliance 2024 Wrap Up

The TRO team had the best time attending this year's Folk Alliance International Conference in Kansas City! From running a booth, to speaking with prospective writers, organizing our very own private showcase, and sponsoring the opening reception, TRO left its mark across all areas of FAI!

 

TRO was thrilled to put on our very first private FAI showcase featuring some of our writers including The Pairs, Story & Tune, Casii Stephan, and Flamy Grant, along with guest performers Louisa Stancioff, and Krea. We were also proud to sponsor the 2024 Folk Alliance opening reception, along with Smithsonian Folkways, featuring a special performance by legendary multi-instrumentalist David Amram and friends, followed by a video tribute to these legendary catalogs!

During the Folk Alliance International Awards, FAI awarded the 2024 Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award to TRO writer Victor Jara, a Chilean theater director, poet, singer, songwriter, and political activist! Big congrats to Victor Jara on this well-earned award! And a special screening of the new documentary “Leadbelly: The Man Who Invented Rock and Roll," was also presented at FAI. The screening featured a performance of "Let It Shine On Me" by Crys Matthews, and a Leadbelly Q&A led by Anna Canoni of Woody Guthrie Publications with Alvin Singh! Thank you to Alvin Singh and the House of Leadbelly for producing this phenomenal film!

TRO would like to offer a special thank you to all of the volunteers and employees at Folk Alliance International for putting on such an amazing conference, and to all those who performed or attended our 2024 private showcase. Big thank you as well to Sara Siskind, of Hands on Healthy, and Setton Farms, for providing such amazing snacks and drinks!
